Glen McCullers

Glen came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 9 at Pine Lake Baptist Church in DeKalb County, Georgia. He met his precious wife, Tomi, in April 1967, and they were married in October 1967 at Airline Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia. Together, they have two wonderful children, Scarlett and Mac, and four loving grandchildren. Glen was ordained as a Deacon in 1976 at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Smyrna, Georgia. He and Tomi have called Blairsville home for over 30 years. They began visiting First Baptist Church in 1996 and joined the church family in early 2003. Throughout his years at First Baptist Church, Glen has been blessed to serve in many capacities. Serving as a Deacon is a calling from God and a great honor as he continues to serve Him and His church.

Darren Rowan

Darren has been married to his wife, Stacy, for 32 years. Throughout his time at First Baptist Church, Darren has been blessed to serve in a variety of ministry roles, including the Golf Cart Team, Connect Team, Safety Team, and the Long Range Planning Committee. Darren also served as a Deacon from 2022–2025, a role that allowed him to serve and support the church family in a meaningful way. He is grateful for the opportunity to use his gifts to serve God and others through the ministry of First Baptist Church.

Rick Baldwin

Rick gave his life to Christ as a young person and has been actively involved in Southern Baptist churches throughout his life. He has been married to his wife, Tracy, for 43 years, and together they have two grown, married sons and one granddaughter. Rick and Tracy have been members of First Baptist Church Blairsville for nearly two years following their move to the community. After recently retiring from an engineering consulting company, Rick continues to serve the Lord through ministry at FBC. Rick is an ordained deacon and currently teaches the Navigators Sunday School class. He and Tracy also serve together on the Beacon Ministry Team in various roles and responsibilities. Rick is grateful for the opportunity to continue using his gifts to serve God and His church.

Bill Driskell

Bill has been a member of First B Blairsville since 1990. He married Denise Dyer in the Rock Chapel in 1983, and attended services when they were visiting Harold and Delores until they moved to Blairsville in 1990. He served on the media team for 32 years, where he ran sound for both services and extra church activities. Bill was ordained as a deacon in 2007, and served for several years after that. He became a member of the church safety team in August of 2023, where he continues to serve. Bill and Denise’s children, Laura and Michael, and daughter-in-law Kara are all members of the church, and all serve in many areas throughout the church. Their grandsons, Ellis and Arlee are also active in the children’s activities of the church.

Greg Owenby

Greg Owenby has been married to his wife, Aunderea, for 30 years, and together they have two daughters, Anna Dyer (Keaton) and Emily Groves (Drake). Greg and Aunderea are lifelong residents of Union County and have been members of First Baptist Church Blairsville since 2003. Greg was baptized at FBC by Danny Paris, and his daughters were baptized here in 2009. Throughout his time at First Baptist Church, Greg has been blessed to serve in a variety of roles, including serving on the Safety Team since its beginning, as Chairman of the Financial Committee, and currently on the Long Range Planning Committee. Greg’s family is also actively involved in serving the church. Aunderea has served through Vacation Bible School, Feed the Hungry, children’s ministries, as a greeter, and as a Guest Services captain. Together, Greg and his family are grateful for the opportunity to serve and be part of the First Baptist Church family.

Mark Walls

Mark was saved at the age of 10. He and his wife, Julie, joined First Baptist Church Blairsville nearly three years ago and have been blessed to be part of the FBC family. Before moving to Blairsville, Mark served as an Elder in the Baptist church he attended. He and Julie also served as foster parents for several years, reflecting their heart for serving others. Since joining First Baptist Church, Mark has continued to serve through leading an FBC Home Group, volunteering with Vacation Bible School, and serving on the Connect Team. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve God and His church.

Ken Hatley

Ken Hatley and his wife Kathy have been married for 48 years and have two children and five grandchildren. He and Kathy joined FBC in 2010. Ken retired from IBM in 2017 after 43 years of service. He is an ordained deacon and has previously served several terms as an FBC deacon. Ken has also served on the FBC Finance Committee, Personnel Committee and Senior Pastor Search Committee. Kathy sings in the adult choir, teaches the 3- & 4-year-olds children’s choir and serves on the Music Committee.

Alan Sanders

Alan and his wife, Jennifer, moved to Blairsville in 1996 when Alan began practicing family medicine, and they have been members of First Baptist Church Blairsville since that time. Alan was ordained as a deacon at FBC in 2000. Throughout the years, Alan has served in a variety of ministries, including teaching youth and adults, leading a young adult small group, serving on multiple committees, and playing trumpet in the FBC orchestra. He currently teaches an adult Sunday School class and serves on the Long-Range Planning Committee. Beyond the local church, Alan has served at Ridgecrest Summer Camps in various roles and currently serves as the Camps Medical Director. In December 2025, he earned a Master of Theological Studies degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jennifer has also faithfully served through teaching children and various church ministries. Together, Alan and Jennifer are thankful that their four adult children continue to be active in the local church.

Ivan Walker

Ivan first attended First Baptist Church Blairsville many years ago and returned with his family six years ago after moving back to Blairsville. Since then, he has served by teaching High School and Preschool Sunday School classes and leading a boys’ small group on Wednesday nights. Ivan and his wife, Anita (Dyer), began dating in the FBC youth group and were married in the original church chapel. They have been married for 41 years and are blessed with two sons, Josh and Andrew. Ivan accepted Christ as a youth at Canal Lake Bible Camp and has a lifelong passion for serving the Lord by mentoring young people through coaching, officiating high school sports, and teaching God’s Word. He desires to faithfully serve Christ, His church, and the community through his faith, experience, and love for others.

Jacob Williams

Jacob is married to his wife, Morgan, and together they have three children, Cora, Owen, and Whit. Jacob has a heart for serving others and currently serves through Student and Men’s Ministries at First Baptist Church Blairsville. Jacob is an ordained deacon and is grateful for the opportunity to use his gifts, faith, and leadership to serve Christ, support the church family, and help others grow in their relationship with Him.

Jon Womack

Jon has been a disciple of Jesus for 24 years and has been married to his wife, Melissa, for 30 years. The two met at Auburn University and are proud to say, “War Eagle!” Together, they have two sons, Clayton (24) and Matthew (21). Jon served in the United States Marine Corps during Operation Iraqi Freedom, including a deployment to Iraq. During that time, Melissa faithfully cared for their two young sons, including their youngest son who was born during Jon’s deployment. Jon currently serves at First Baptist Church through teaching the Wednesday Night Men’s Group and the Journey Together Sunday School class. He also volunteers with the First B Friends ministry and enjoys mentoring young men in the community. Outside of ministry, Jon has served as the IT Director for an environmental consulting firm for 15 years.

Michael Driskell

Michael has attended First Baptist Church Blairsville since infancy and has been a member of FBC since 1997. He is married to his wife, Kara Hardy Driskell, and together they have two sons, Ellis (7) and Arlee (3). Michael currently serves at First Baptist Church by playing drums on the Contemporary Worship Team and leading a men’s small group Bible study on Wednesday nights. He graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and currently works as a Manufacturing Engineer at Snap-on Tools in Murphy, NC. Michael is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord and His church through worship, discipleship, and community.

Luke Colwell

Luke Colwell has been a member of First Baptist Church Blairsville for 17 years. He and his wife, Rebecca, have three children: Catherine (13), Eliza (11), and Grant (8). A lifelong resident of Blairsville, Luke is employed with Colwell Construction Company. He is thankful for the opportunity to be part of the FBC family and serve alongside others in the church and community.
