NYC Mission Trip Update #2
Day 1 in New York City 🗽
Yesterday was a full (and exciting!) first day in New York. We arrived at LaGuardia in the afternoon, where members of NYSUM greeted us and showed us around our lodging. They have been so helpful already, making us feel right at home.
(the New York sky line!) After settling in, we set out to explore the neighborhood. We found a small family-owned Mexican restaurant for dinner, where they served the most incredible scratch-made salsa. The staff seemed amused as we pushed tables together in what was clearly meant to be a quick counter-serve spot—but they welcomed us with kindness. From there, we navigated a local grocery store and a pop-up vegetable stand, getting a taste of life in this community.
The neighborhoodhas been so gracious to us as newcomers, and it’s been encouraging to see God opening doors already. Last night, we gathered for a team meeting to begin laying out preliminary plans and share personal stories. It was a sweet time of bonding, laughter, and preparation. This morning, we started our day with prayer and a team devotional. We’re expectant for how the Lord will use us here in New York and grateful for your continued prayers as we serve, learn, and share the gospel.
