Day 4 in Vancouver π¨π¦π
Yesterday, our team spent the day walking around the University of British Columbia, connecting with students and asking what they were grateful for. We used these simple conversations as a bridge to ask what they might need prayer for and if we could pray for them right then and there.
This week is midterm week at UBC, so many students were extra stressed and overwhelmed. Even so, God opened doors for meaningful, Spirit-led moments that reminded us He is always at work.
Morgan & Courtney:
We decided to buy a couple of Tim Hortons gift cards and gift them to two students. The Holy Spirit led us to two girls sitting at a table, and as soon as we started talking, one of them opened up and asked if we would pray for them as they were going through a difficult time. She even asked about the local church and when she could attend. The Holy Spirit was truly present in that moment.
Lott & Kim:
We met a student from China who had only been at UBC for a month. She was lonely and seemed a bit scared, still trying to find her place. We invited her to the Pancakes and Prayers event weβre helping host tonight and encouraged her to connect with the community at Origin Church. She seemed so relieved that someone stopped to talk with her.
Rick & Caleb:
We talked with a student from Alberta who had never really considered the existence of God. It simply wasnβt something that had ever crossed his mind - his parents and grandparents had always lived the same way. Still, he was willing to have a conversation, and we trust that a seed was planted that God will continue to grow.
Cindy & Laura:
We met a girl who shared that she was worried about her aging grandmother in Asia. She told us how grateful she was for her dad, who had stepped up to care for the family and manage the household while her mom was overseas caring for her grandmother. It was such a tender reminder that everyone carries a story and often, unseen burdens.
Throughout the day, we were struck by how many people are walking through life without knowing the hope of Christ. Some are lonely. Some are anxious. Some are simply searching for meaning.
Yet in every conversation, we were reminded that God is already at work in every corner of the world, drawing hearts to Himself. What a privilege it is to join Him in that work. Each encounter reminded us that His love knows no boundaries, and His grace reaches far beyond what we can see.
