Day 2 in Vancouver π¨π¦π
Today we visited Origin Church for Sunday service, and it was an incredible time of worship. It was so beautiful to see people of all ages and cultures gathered together to learn and praise...all on a college campus in a room thatβs usually used for math class! We met so many interesting people with beautiful stories and were reminded again how the Church truly reaches across every background and generation.
After service, we went to lunch with our new friend, Helena! The area that we ate had several different food options, so everyone got to try something new. Some of us chose Lebanese food, others went for Japanese, and a few enjoyed Tex-Mex. We all gathered in the dining hall to eat and share more conversation together.
Later in the afternoon, we took a bus to Cascades Church, where we attended their Korean service. They provided translation devices, allowing us to listen as the sermon was preached in Korean and translated into English. It was such a beautiful moment, hearing the gospel proclaimed in another language yet feeling the same truth and presence of God.
After the service, we were invited to join their Thanksgiving dinner, which was a traditional Korean meal complete with rice, spicy squid, anchovies, stew, spicy pork, kimchi, and a colorful dumpling-style rice cake for dessert.
We ended the day back at our Airbnb, where we debriefed together and talked about gratitude and contentment, which was a recurring theme throughout todayβs services. The two are deeply connected: you canβt truly have one without the other. Gratitude helps us see Godβs blessings; contentment helps us rest in them. Gratitude says, βGod, thank You for what Youβve given,β while contentment says, βAnd I trust that itβs enough.β
As we reflected tonight, we were reminded that true joy isnβt found in circumstances but in Christ Himself. Whether in Blairsville, Vancouver, or anywhere else in the world, our hearts are full knowing that the same God we worship at home is moving powerfully here too.
